In summer 2026, I interned in the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, the only high-school student to do so. I drafted official letters for the ministry’s leadership, helped organize high-level meetings, and supported the ministry’s climate programs.

International Relations Department

Learning the language of diplomacy

Interned at the Ministry of Preschool and School Education at the International Relations Department, where I deepened my understanding of IR and developed my organizational skills. My job was to write drafts of letters to ministries such as the Ministry of International Affairs, to the Presidential Administration, to the embassies, and to the international organizations. The senior officers and the relevant units decided the ministry’s position, and I made them with the right format and addressee block, the reference to the incoming document, and the legal citations and terminology, in Uzbek, Russian, or English, formatted for signature at the First Deputy Minister’s or Minister’s level. Every letter was reviewed first before being signed. I learned how to write the letters in a ministry’s style myself with very little help because I learned the style myself after getting access to the ministry’s archive files and learning the pattern and their style of writing letters. When my supervisor gave me a task to prepare a letter, I did it exactly as others at the ministry were doing, and my supervisor got excited and asked how I did it. Then I explained how I learned that. And then my supervisor started trusting me with more tasks and data. I also took on a crucial role in organizing meetings of the ministry with others such as the ambassador of France, etc.

Outside of my duties during the internship, I helped the ministry with the organization of climate-related work such as Eco-Schools, because I was involved with them before, and at the same time, my interest in climate is from my heart, as I come from a family of farmers. When the data of the Eco-Schools were messy and not accurate, with many errors, I decided to fix that. In a single afternoon, I managed to fix that by using some digital tools such as AI, whereas they couldn’t do it in 6 months. We organized two eco-related camps and one sub-regional conference of youth (Regional Conference of Youth) during my internship at the ministry.
